This weekend in Austin, Texas, the power pop legions will descend into the Lone Star state capital for one of the bravest reunion configurations of the year, resulting in the remarkable first ever US appearance of 70s punk icons, The Boys. While their four albums are pure gold to anyone with a heartbeat, their inability to conquer the United States (and the world, for that matter) in the 70s is one of the biggest tragedies of the twentieth century, and this weekend's show is one I truly regret not being able to witness firsthand. As it looks, the ...

The Witch Hats are on the tail end of their US tour this week and they will be spending time over the weekend in Texas, playing at The Mix in San Antonio on Saturday, and then in Austin with The Golden Boys on Sunday at Beerland. The four-piece outfit from Melbourne, Australia bangs out a modern version of the swampy drone that made the later Scientists stuff so great. It seems as if the time were ripe for it too, as In The Red Records is set to release their sophomore ...

Estrogen Highs are on tour this week and are rolling into Columbus, Ohio tonight to headline a show at the Cafe Bourbon Street. With a couple of singles now to their credit, the New Haven, Connecticut four-piece scrape out a jagged rendition of bottom feeding rock'n'roll. Their latest effort on Milk 'n Herpes Records contains the sort of hollow guitar sound and echo-dipped vocals that seem to put one in a descending spiral of moral fitness, and throw musical aptitude aside in favor of a soulful execution. And although tonight's line up is packed with some ...

Tomorrow night at Sacramento's aptly-named Funcastle is the site of the assuredly catastrophic Mayyors' record release party, which should be one of the rowdiest, sweatiest, and hairiest shows in the state of California this week. With their completely blank and raging debut 7" on Waste of Oil already long gone and no extraneous ties to the internet at all, The Mayyors are one of those riveting and explosive bands that just doesn't want your attention, and hopes you'll stop looking for more information. With raw brutality and nihilistic aggression at the core of their existence, Mayyors hold nothing ...

The Wax Museums will be kicking off their tour tomorrow in Denton, Texas at 715 Panhandle with Teenage Cool Kids and Straight Paint. Also serving as a record release party for their newest 7" single on the Fashionable Idiots imprint, the Wax Museums set is sure to knock the collective IQ down to a more respectable and blissful level. Over the last couple of years, the band has banged out a flawless handful of singles leaving a mark of genius for playing dumbed-up punk swill that's catchy, lovable and, above all, ...

This week, Portland, Oregon's newest band of off-center rapscallions, Meth Teeth will embark out on their first national tour, traveling down the West coast, and off to the South and Midwest, ushering in a new age of psychedelic songwriting that is certain to create a stir in the status quo of modern music. Combining the power of jangling guitar high notes and creepy unaffected vocal delivery over muddy and ominous grooves that swell and ebb with disgust are just some of the many strong points that Meth Teeth embrace. Even with their one 7" EP release ...

It's Radio Time!

In this ever-changing world where entertainment lays closely between the hearts and groins of millions of music fanatics, it is impossible to stay on top of what is going on around us. With thousands upon thousands of bands forming, recording and breaking up before they even see the light of day, often their reach for the minions of faceless audiences the world over comes up short and they disband before the brilliance of their output is recognized beyond the ears of their immediate cronies. And that's a crime. Victimoftime.com is a website dedicated to spotlighting the aural underdog. Through a ...
